So now that that's out of the way...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Land of the Four Wizards
In the beginning of time, the world was ruled by powerful elemental entities who shaped the land and demanded obediance from all other beings. Those entities were known as the Old Gods for they had been old even when the earliest life appeared in the world.
The Old Gods were fickle and malign deities who had no regard for anything but themselves. They would destroy entire civilizations in a single moment of fury and create horrors beyond any imagination for their own amusement.
In time, the world's most powerful race, the immortal dragons, hatched a plan to rid themselves of the Old Gods. They gathered the mortal races and thought them magic, creating vast legions of wizards and sorcerers. Together, the dragons and the mortal wizards waged war upon the Old Gods and banished them from the world.
The wizards, however, had no intention of serving any new masters once the Old Gods were gone. Having tasted power, they craved for more. After the fall of the Gods, they spent years forging in secret a powerful artifact known as the Dragon Scepter to overpower the dragons. When the time was right, they betrayed their dragon allies and exiled them to the deepest reaches of the world.
The most powerful wizards then divided the world between themselves, creating powerful magocraties and establishing themselves as kings and emperors. But peace would not come just yet to the beleagered world.
After having divided the land came the time to divided the spoils of the war agaisnt the Old Gods, magics so old even the powerful archmages could not comprehend them.
And so greed and lust for power led the mortal armies to clash agaisnt one another for a thousand years in terrible displays of magical might that tore the very fabric of creation and obliterated entire regions.
Three times did mortals go to war and three times was the world destroyed, the order of things overturned and the laws of physics rewritten. When the dust settled, only four mortal realms still stood.
Ismia, proud kingdom of man, ruled by the benevolent archmage Benedictus the White.
Azman, a scorching desert realm ruled by the Firelord Asmodan from his fiery mountain fortress of Angarask.
Gruul, a shattered land of frozen swamps and flooded forests where weird magic still scars the land, realm of Golgoth the Necromancer.
And Selendil, mystical forest kingdom of the elves and their queen, Katrina, the Lady of the Woods.
The mortal wars were dubbed the Wizard Wars and since the last one ended over 500 years ago, a fragile peace has settled around the world. Cities have grown and trade has boomed, but here and there, reminders of the past still linger.
Ambitious wizards still rule the world while other powerful magi simply bide their time, plotting to overthrow them. Deep in the bowels of the earth, dragons seeth with hatred, vowing to one day return and crush the mortals who betrayed them. And an even greater evil lurks in the Nether Planes, waiting for the day the pitiful spells that keep them at bay fail, paving the way for their return and the end of the world.

Sooooooo if we do some DnD tomorrow (that is Jan 4th/2006) it will be in the setting written here.
