This is not of my invention, but I think it is an interesting house rule to adopt:
--->Whenever you fire a missile/torpedo, you may chose to manualy detonate it as soon as it reaches the enemy's square. The missile/torpedo gains a +3 bonus to his attack roll. If it misses its target, it blows harmlessly.

Interresting, I like it. Question: When you dumbfire a missile/torpedo, could this be used once the said missile/torpedo entered the enemy square? (would be very helpful against enemy ships immune to lock-on)

First, I don't recall ships being immune to lock-on.
Second, there is no official ruling about dumbfiring missiles/torpedoes, but I could make some kind of house rule. Here it goes:
---->Locking a "dumbfired" missile/torpedo removes the bonus given by fire control. The fired missile/torpedo flies in a straight path and take a penalty of 5 on their attack roll to hit their target. The targeted ship has more difficulty noticing the dumbfired missile/torpedo and will probably use less or no defense system against it, depending on the situation.
Yes, you could manually detonate the dumbfired missile/torpedo, giving it a bonus of 3 for a total penalty of 2 to its attack roll, which isn't a bad deal for an easy-to-hit capital ship (average defense of 12).
What do you think ?

Good ruling, it is very close to what I was thinking. Oh and for ships that can't be locked on, I'll talk to you.
